This indicates that the account is configured to use POP3. There is no synchronization with POP3 accounts; it's a one-way download of messages from the account inbox at the server. You can only change synchronization settings for an IMAP account.

Windows Live Mail Keeps Downloading Emails
First thing to check are the settings under Delivery at the bottom of the Advanced tab of the account's properties dialogue. Right-click on the account name in the folder pane and select Properties to open it.

Repeated downloads of the same messages suggests that there's at least one message in the webmail inbox that Windows Live Mail can't or won't download. When this happens, the POP3 protocol goes into fail-safe mode and assumes that the download session has failed and starts it again, either immediately or next time there's a poll for new messages. Try and identify the rogue message - it may be very big, or very spammy or just damaged - and deal with it there in webmail.

You can add multiple email addresses, such as Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail addresses, to Windows Live Mail if you need to easily monitor emails sent by your clients and employees, as well as personal emails. If you accidentally delete some emails in Windows Live Mail, you will not be able to recover them by clicking the 'Send/Receive' button. The emails are not deleted from the email server though, so you can force Windows Live Mail to download them again by removing and then re-adding the email account.

Launch Windows Live Mail, click the 'Windows Live Mail' button in the top-left corner of the window, choose 'Options' from the menu and click 'Email Accounts' to open the Accounts window.

Select the email account and then click the 'Remove' button. Click 'OK' to confirm your action and remove the email account from Windows Live Mail.

Outlook Is Downloading Old Emails
Type or paste the email address into the 'Email Address' field and enter the password into the 'Password' field. Enter your name into the 'Display Name for Your Sent Messages' and then click 'Next.'

Click 'Finish' to close the window and then click 'Close' to close the Accounts window. Windows Live Mail pulls all emails from the server, including the emails that you accidentally deleted in Live Mail.
